'in/tangible cartographies – new arab video' was commisioned by World Wide Video Festival 2001, and especially curated by Jayce Salloum.
A personal enquiry into the acquisition, yielding, and centralizing of power (at the cost of those in the margin) and the close to mythical proportions of entrepreneur and multi-millionaire Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Like a punch drunk fighter Amiralay weaves, feigns, retreats and attacks through a series of encounters throwing whatever he can at the Prime Minister who ducks and bobs while landing squarely in the ring of his inquisition. The two converse deftly bouncing off of each other, the videotape becomes a tango, then a punch-counter punch of introspection, speculation, and representation.
