'in/tangible cartographies – new arab video' was commisioned by World Wide Video Festival 2001, and especially curated by Jayce Salloum.
A question of identity is posed in the streets of Mantes-La-Jolie and Paris, the answers are laconic, evasive, philosophical, tender, trivial, and conniving.
Can the pointed question get beyond the polite or intellectual response in this pursuit of otherness, this quest for a subject, or is it an emphasis on the distance the camera lens helps to create. A surprise finish with an aggressive turn takes place and the tables are turned.
