'in/tangible cartographies – new arab video' was commisioned by World Wide Video Festival 2001, and especially curated by Jayce Salloum.
Good things are happening and it all seems to be coming together when naive American producers commission Zobaidi to make a videotape about the ancient city of Jerusalem, a project he has waited to do for two years. The producers want only the calmer, sweeter side of the old city, all love, spirituality, and cohabitation, but as soon as the taping starts a second Intifada breaks out after Israeli attacks at Al Aksa Mosque and the impossible task of making the videotape commissioned comes face to face with reality. A morality play, and a play on conscience, the tape within a tape confronts its own paradox.
