WORLD WIDE VIDEO FESTIVAL WORKSHOP INTERACIVE NARRATIVE 12 - 17 MAY |
Non-linear storytelling for international video artists Digital interactive media make new ways of storytelling possible. As part of the upcoming World Wide Video Festival, Mediamatic will be organising an intensive five-day workshop on non-linear storytelling for video artists. Participants will study the specific possibilities offered and questions raised by non-linear storytelling: how does one maintain tension in a non-linear story? How can the viewers' actions be integrated meaningfully into the narrative? What does it mean to replace the absolute cut with the possible link? Using video, audio and text materials provided by Mediamatic and World Wide Video Festival, participants will create their own interactive story. As practical research tool, participants will use the Korsakov System developed at the Universitaet der Kuenste in Berlin. The Korsakov System is an easy-to-use-editing environment as well as an elegant presentation tool for interactive film and audio projects. It was first developed for The Korsakov Syndrome, an interactive documentary on alcohol made by Florian Thalhofer. Mediamatic will supervise the workshop in cooperation with the Universität der Künste in Berlin. No specific technical skills are required for participation in this workshop, technical assistants will be present throughout the sessions. |
The (closed) workshop sessions take place from 10 AM till 4 PM, Monday May 12 till Friday May 16 at the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam.
The results of the workshop will be presented to the public on Participants More information www.korsakow.com |
