  El arte del video
If 1965 is taken as the year in which video art was born, then this year we celebrate its 25th birthday. For the Spanish broadcasting company TVE, this seemed to be a good opportunity to produce an encyclopaedic review. The co-operation between producers Imatco (Barcelona) and Atanor (Madrid), supervised by Jose Ramon Perez Ornia, resulted in the 14 part series 'El Arte del Video'. Arranged according to subject ('The crystal box'; 'Documentary video'; 'Self portrait'), various genres which can be defined within video art are dealt with and illustrated by fragments. Explanations can be expected from the video makers themselves, from critics, from curators and from other representatives from the world of culture and communication. The impressive list of people interviewed contains practically all the top names from video art. Despite this thorough approach, the final product, intended for transmission on Spanish television in 30 minute instalments, has turned out to be visually attractive and accessible.
