What is 'home' - Where is 'home' - Is it a house, a family, a culture, continent or state of mind- And why do the young go out into the world- ''Because your family held on to you so'', says a woman. ''Home is where you come from, and home is where you go to.'' This video is a mosaic of image and sound. Massie succeeds in sketching the magnificent verbal descriptions of the concept 'home', sometimes in contrapuntal and then in poetic images. Humour is not missing either. An almost Stalinistic drawing of the ideal American family as propagated by the American Dream and in which some people still believe, is accompanied by the question: ''Do you really believe that-'' The sound track contains moving statements. The sensation of alienation when you do not even know the names of the trees in a new environment. A woman tells of her old mother who did not want to live anymore but could not die either. She asked her daughter to help her. The daughter, concerned, threw her arms around her: ''And then she died in my arms''. Home is where we come from, home is where we are going to. What a wonderful video!
