Hafuji restricts himself to one camera position: a zebra crossing as seen by the waiting pedestrian. This piece of street is occupied alternately by pedestrian and motorized traffic; alternate moves are made in this big-city board-game, a close watch being kept on the rival. This contrast in the content of the production is emphasized in the form: black and white, like day and night and the colours of the chess-pieces.
