This careful documentary aims to report on the inner-most thoughts, intimate sexual experiences and beliefs of the subjects. Extremely direct questions and very honest answers reveal the existential attitude to life of a nine-year-old boy, the ability to see the funny side of things possessed by a middle-aged prostitute (for whom the interview was nevertheless 50 harrowing that she chose to end her life the next day), and the social isolation of Lola, a trans-sexual with ideals. Love and prostitution, tenderness and desire, sex and solitude, such are the main concerns of 'D'amore si vive', a inquiry, whose obvious lack of visual imagination is more than compensated by the effectiveness of the poignant and intense interviews. Agosti accomplishes a difficult task without being judgemental or sensationalist, and succeeds in treating a polemical subject with both strength and humanity.
