Take a man who consumes his cornflakes with film, at work plays in deep contentment with a VDU, and in the evening uses his bed mainly as a viewing-theatre - and it's no surprise that that man eventually becomes 'lost in the pictures'. However, the flat way in which the images crowd in upon him, the detachment with which he experiences his own growing disorientation, together with his obvious intelligence and handsome appearance, make one suspect that no ordinary TV-junkie is meant here, but rather that the viewer is viewing his own self.
