Skip Blumberg thinks he can unravel the secret of a good interview by interrogating well-known interviewers. It comes as no surprise that he chooses to consult such well-known American television personalities as Mike Wallace, Barbara Walters and Susan Stamberg. What is, however, unexpected are his discussions with 'professional' interviewers like policeman Grenman and psycho-analyst Kovel. Publicist-journalist Studs Terkei, famous as one of the founding fathers of oral history, make a downright racy contribution. His point of view constrasts sharply with the business-like results-approach of the others. But, not to beat about the bush, how do you make a good interview? Although Blumberg's investigation has quite a lot going for it, his inquiry produces no infallible recipe for the interview. An enthusiastic beginner - not to mention his or her potential victims - may nevertheless find some useful tips here.
