The blinds go up, and another new day begins. Routine fills to the brim with familiar activities a day empty of emotion. The palely-pure young woman searches with an uncertain yearning, amid her meditative tidying and cleaning, for exuberance, excitement and challenge, self-expression. How long before she dares to break out of her cocoon? Before the mirror, she dreams of that other person she knows is within her, and ever provokes and challenges her. Several more days pass before the tension becomes so great that she decides to avoid the confrontation no longer: over dinner with her other self she developes into a serene and balanced adult woman who, full of self-confidence, is able to face the modern world and indeed challenge it.
