More than just an exciting music-video, the principe of duality takes a central place here, on several different levels. On the one hand the world of the makers: the painter Paul Richards meets the composer Michael Nyman in the treacherously multi-facetted landscape of video graphics. This 'marriage', as they call it, of the two disciplines finds expression in the electronic painting potential provided by the Paintbox-system, in combination with an 'operatic duet' performed by Anne Pigalle and Omar Ebrahim. On the other hand, there is the tension between the two performing artists: although filmed as a duet, there is no real question of a dialogue. It is a stylised form of communication. The Moment Suprême, the Kiss, is denied both to them and to the viewer.
