Imagine you are watching television with a companion and he keeps using the remote control buttons to hop channels continuously - for a whole hour. But what happens? To your own amazement, you don't fly into a blind rage at your button-happy companion. He manages, thanks to some demented intuition, to dish you up a series of dramatic islands in a grey ocean of TV boredom, which are able one after the other to enthral you, even though - of course - there is no connection between them. Images succeed each other arbitrarily to form a kaleidoscope of talk and violence where events like gaudy fish join with each other in a battle for life or death. And, if any doubts remain, German is a lovely language.
