Initially, when we observe the cold stares of the various cosmopolitan cities' dwellers, we are struck by how very much alike they all look. References are made to mass communication which makes close neighbours of these places, so widely separated both by culture and geographical location. But this video shows how appearances can be deceptive. For the sense of individualism breaks out of the harmonious unity. Like crickets, it takes shape, at first still softly splitting and singing, ultimately taking over the whole body and to bring a person to madness and schizophrenia. The video images are reconstructed montages of performances that have been put back together in chronological order. The final conclusion seems sinister, but what is worse: a detached mass person - all behaving uniformly - or a personality, scourged by individual desires?
