"I have to concentrate so that I don't get side-tracked" sighs Teresa about half way through. This good resolution comes as something of a surprise after all her monologues, and she does not keep to it either. Her surroundings are not really suited to such a rational decision. She lives in the centre of the Milky Way on a planet lit by starlight, in two houses at the same time. One is a lovely country house whose disadvantage is that the walls block every fantasy; the other is a glass pyramid in which everything is unbounded. One day she decides to strike a happy medium. She talks to her reflection in the mirror about her desires, dreams and ideas. Sometimes we see her flow of words become concrete in images, leaving us just as much in confusion. "Analysis and synthesis, I must recapitulate". Despite her typical French intellectual jargon, the relationship between word and reality, signify and significant escapes her, to quote from the work of linguist Ferdinand de Saussure. In principle, that relationship is purely conventional and it is after all capriciousness that is the basis of art.
