"Long ago, when the moon was closer to the Earth, the full moon so close that her belly almost touched the waves of the sea, the men of Heijme set sail and went to anchor under her lowest point. Thus they went onto the moon every month to harvest moon milk. For this was the principle source of food for the inhabitants of Heijme in the days when the moon was closer to the Earth". With this introduction - the only text in a familiar language since the local language in Heijme is 'doenks' - begins the fairy tale 'Monas Plen' ('Full Moon'). A timeless story about love and jealousy, about gravity and the power of imagination and especially about the fascination of the full moon that plays one of the major parts in this tale. It is the story of the mysterious Surdmuta, a moon worshipper who guides the expeditions of the captain, his bewitching wife Selena and their daughter Arda. Selena is in love with Surdmuta, but for him there can be only one love: the moon. Selena challenges the moon with her physical attributes and that has fatal consequences.
