Three white walls and a white ceiling, a dark grey floor, a camera on a stand in front of this space and a woman in orange overalls with a striped T-shirt. These are the ingredients of this tape that starts with recordings of small things that take place in this space. The woman dances, jumps, but then the image 'sticks' and the woman is left 'hanging in the air'. Her movements repeat a couple of times before she gets back on the ground again. She sits in a chair and laughs and then the scene repeats but the image and sound have changed. The image material that at first was so straightforwardly recorded in this stylized environment, is then processed in all sorts of ways, accelerated, slowed down, edited, discoloured. And so images arise which can only exists thanks to these technical operations. The concrete starting points are transformed into water colour-like, abstract images, sometimes they become translucent and sometimes they disappear entirely. But where the original images return, they carry the abstract images with them; in the world that they thus form, images develop a significance that continues to exist between the lines. Video is used here to create a world that could otherwise not have been.
