About the festival programme 2003
From Thursday, 8 May through Sunday, 25 May, 2003, the enormous building of the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA) will be the festival's main location where a wide range of activities will unfold: solo and group exhibitions, the media lounge (overlooking the river IJ), performances, presentations and screenings, and the 'meet-the-artist' programme.

Programme highlights
Apart from new work the World Wide Video Festival will present a retrospective exhibition of some 20 installations from previous editions of the festival and three solo exhibitions by Éder Santos (Brazil), Walid Ra'ad (Lebanon) and Marina Abramovic (Netherlands). Also, there will be a thematic sub-festival around VJ/DJ culture, the media lounge will offer video-, CD-ROM- and net-art productions, there will be performances and presentations, a seminar and the 'meet-the-artist' Programme. Traditionally, many media artists from both the Netherlands and abroad are expected to attend the festival.

Hamlet Machine
On 13 March 2003 the première of Dominik Barbier's Hamlet Machine took place, as a prelude to the upcoming World Wide Video Festival. This multi-disciplinary production is based on the play by Heiner Müller. Hamlet Machine integrates text, visual arts, dance, theatre, and electronic music.
