South Africa (2001) installation

The artist uses three screens to show a bizarre but comical scene unfolding at a dinner table. Some ten personages, interpreted by the artist, appear on screen and disappear again. They are women from (art)history, racial stereotypes, female archetypes and sex symbols who refer to European and South African history. The babble carries on, but ends unexpectedly in a tragicomic climax.
